If you had the power to be addicted to anything, what would it be? While such a question is a trifle on the unusual side, it is definitely a thought you should consider in life. After all, a lot of people are addicted to bad things in this world. What would it be like if people decided, instead of focusing on not being addicted to bad things, to make a clear and conscious effort to be addicted to good things instead? While it could potentially backfire on us all, that is not the likely scenario that would unfold. More likely than not, we would experience a lot of people who had a lot of great addictions.
If you have ever been addicted to the adrenaline rush of kick a goal, or being able to outrun your most difficult rival, you might know what we’re talking about here. There are some truly incredible addictions to have, once you overcome the stigma of saying that something is “an addiction.” Not all addictions are bad, after all. They are simply something that you feel compelled to do in your daily life – as if your day simply is not complete unless you have done that particular thing.
And what would it be like it you had the power to actually cultivate an addiction, for the purpose of making your life just that little bit better? Would you feel a rush of power at your new found “personal crack,” or would you shrink back in fear that a good thing might turn into a bad thing? If you answered a yes to the first part of that sentence, you might end up taking it too far one day. But if you said yes to the second part, you might have a good balance in your mind.
